I am not a self proclaimed Conservative, however, I do tend to agree much more strongly with Conservative views than otherwise. There seems to be quite the misconception regarding Conservative views on several subjects. I would like to address those misconceptions, based on the views of myself, and most Conservative type people that I know.
I am not a self proclaimed Conservative, however, I do tend to agree much more strongly with Conservative views than otherwise. There seems to be quite the misconception regarding Conservative views on several subjects. I would like to address those misconceptions, based on the views of myself, and most Conservative type people that I know.
First off, Conservatives are thought to be without compassion. The general thought is, that they do not want to help others and do not want others to succeed, that they want to abolish all government aid and just let people starve. INCORRECT. Actually, most conservatives I know are very compassionate and do quite a bit to help others, from working community projects to donating to community and national programs set up to help those in need. Many are church goer's, and they work on a regular basis with the community leaders and church leaders to offer services to those who are in need and fall on hardships, are sick or are even simply going through a tough time. What most Conservatives do NOT like is being made to pay into government programs that are not monitored or ran properly which result in abuse of said programs, taking funds out of the hands of those who truly need it to fund those who simply want it.
Secondly, Conservatives are thought to be against national healthcare because they want people to die and not receive treatment when they are sick. INCORRECT. In general, Conservatives are not opposed to having a healthcare program in place so that everyone has the opportunity to have said healthcare, they are simply opposed to being forced to pay into a government program that is being funded, by, again, their tax dollars, to fund those who, again, do not want to do for themselves. The issue is not having a healthcare program, it's having yet another government program that is not monitored and not set up to help better American's, but to further make them dependent. Also, Conservatives are logical enough to know that nothing comes for free, and that somewhere, someone is footing the bill for this insurance, normally, the same people who are paying for everything else - the tax payers.
Thirdly, Conservatives are against abortion because they are against women having a choice regarding what to do with their bodies. INCORRECT. Actually, Conservatives have no problem giving women a choice of what to do with their bodies, they have a problem when that woman chooses to have unprotected sex, or even protected sex which results in a unplanned pregnancy, using abortion to kill a innocent child. See, Conservatives fully believe in choice, they believe the mother should have the choice to have sex, and the child should have the choice to live.
Fourthly, Conservatives want corporate America to take over and keep everyone else poor. INCORRECT. This is also, absurd. Considering there are just as many middle class American's that are Conservatives as otherwise, why would they want to be squashed by corporate America? What Conservatives believe is this, simply, that people have the right to keep what they have earned, and should not be forced to give it to others who have not done the same. How are we making a better America by forcing those who worked to be successful to give their earnings to those who have settled for less? And, no, I am not saying that you have to be in corporate America to be successful....success is not defined by how much money is in the bank or how big your home is, it's defined by your personal happiness in yourself and your life, the choices you have made, your being content with your life.
Fifthly, Conservatives are against homosexuality. INCORRECT, and again, absurd. That is not something that is defined by a political stance, but more so religion and personal feelings about the subject. And, just because someone is religious also does not mean that they think all homosexuals are going to Hell. Another huge misconception.
That is all that comes to mind right now, but, throw out some there if you wish, and I will clear those up as well. Basically, the main thing that I have found Conservatives want, is for America to be SUCCESSFUL and American's to become INDEPENDENT. Off of government aid and able to support themselves. To get our country OUT of debt and back in the green and to stop having to relay on other counties for support. To get into place a system where tax dollars are being filtered for positive programs and better distributed, as well as better monitored, to financially strengthen our country, and to better all.
